Homemade Crackers

Posted on

Do you eat crackers with every meal like Joe does? He actually got me hooked on cracker snacking. I am already a big time snacker to be with! Crackers seem to be a nice afternoon snack with natural peanut butter and a swig of almond milk! I saw a few recipes for these crackers and spotted a bag of brown rice flour in my lazy Susan and knew it was my time to shine – aka make crackers. They turned out FANTASTIC! I also used butter for the recipe, where it called for Earth Balance, vegan margarine. If you are going for vegan crackers, you would know where to make your substitution!

Adapted from Blog

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown rice flour
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp raw sugar
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 4 Tbsp butter, cubed
  • 1  cup water

Directions:

  1. Mix dry ingredients, flour through paprika in bowl.
  2. Cut in with two knives, 4 Tbsp cubed butter. This will create a crumbly mixture.
  3. Add 1/2 cup water at a time to mixture and using hands mix together.
  4. Add rest of water and continue process until dough has been created.
  5. Flour surface, roll out dough – very thin.
  6. Using shot glass, cut out circular crackers.
  7. Grease foiled lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake 400F for 10 minutes. Flip crackers when cooked half way.
  9. ENJOY!!
