simple and sincere

Posted on

So a few days ago my friend, Tiff and I were texting about being lazy and how much we didn’t feel like working out. On top of being lazy, I had an extreme feeling of being bloated because it was “that time,” as you girls know. I told Tiff through text messages how much I didn’t feel like working out and how I felt just plain ol’ gross. Yes, we all have these moments.

In three simple words, this was her response to me:

“ur beautiful stop.” I have to say this was the first time a girlfriend of mine has told me I am beautiful. First time. Girls compliment each other on their cute dresses, or cute hair, or nice lip gloss, but rarely do I hear girls tell each other, “You are beautiful.” This comment made me push away my negative thoughts of feeling “gross,” and move on with what I was doing at that moment, cooking dinner and NOT working out. Her words were so powerful and I truly took them to heart. Just remember, words mean a lot, they feel good, they hurt, heck, they can do a whole lot of things. Tiffani, thank you for the amazing text message that made my day and Tiff, you are beautiful, too!

Today, if you get the chance, tell one of your girlfriends they are beautiful. They will appreciate your comment forever.

Biking w/ the girls.

This morning was filled with another B3. In the mix:

Last night the girls and I went biking on the Thun trail. We did about 12 miles or so and really had a nice time. What was even better about our workout, we stopped and sat outside of Third and Spruce and sipped on a cold glass of wine! Nothing like a pit stop on a hot, summer afternoon after biking your little arse off. I love working out with friends. It is nice to motivate each other! Girls, I hope you are up for a sprint triathlon. I registered for one a few years ago, and I ended up not participating. The girl who I registered with got sick right before the race and we both opted out. Hopefully a tri is in my future! I will set it as a goal for 2012. Have you done a triathlon? What were the distances? What was your favorite part of the race, swimming, biking, or running?

Last night’s dinner:

Something fast and simple, Morning Star Black Bean Burger, a salad with roasted peppers (so easy, just throw whole pepper on the grill, rotate pepper as it grills on each side, this will make the skin peel off with no problems, chop up and use for whatever you like) dry roasted edamame, cucumbers, goat cheese and tomatoes! Delish. Off to do a bunch of errands before another interview today!
